Taking the Emirates Air Line over London.

If you want to get a good view of London there’s a few obvious choices – the London Eye, the Shard, the Sky Garden, the Gerkin..but what i hadn’t thought about before or even known about until just the other week is The Emirates Air Line!

If you haven’t heard of this before then its a cable car that runs high above the River Thames linking Greenwich to the Royal Docks. It is a little bit out of the way but it’s still well worth a visit to get a different view and perspective of London and as it’s right next to the O2 arena it would be a great addition to a trip to the arena!

For £10.70 per person you can get the full Emirates Air Line Discovery Experience which includes a round trip on the cable car which will last 20-30 minutes, a souvenir guide as seen in my photo below and entry into the Emirates aviation experience and for a London attraction I don’t think that’s a bad price!

Each car takes up to 10 people and although they can be hired out privately for a pricey £90.00 each there is a better way of seeing the city and doing it privately..

I got to Greenwich station for about 9:30pm on a Friday Evening and headed straight to the ticket office and to my surprise and joy there was only 1 other person in the queue! The staff were super friendly and said we could have our own cable car so before we knew it we were heading into the sky and over the River.

As soon as we took off music started playing and a long with this, the colour of remaining sunset peaking through the clouds and the city lighting up it was a brilliant and beautiful experience! From the car you get views of the skyscrapers that make up Canary Wharf, the Olympic park, the Borough of Greenwich and of course the O2 Arena.

Although I can imagine it would still be good during the day, I would assume it gets fairly busy and the car’s would need to be shared so I would 100% recommend arriving later in the evening, watching the sunset and hopefully getting a private car!

All information on tickets and opening times can be found here on their official website.

Enjoy! x
