If you’re staying at Log House Holidays in the Cotswolds soon you are very lucky! Based in the Cotswolds, eight log cabins are hidden away around a beautiful, secluded lake in the middle of a 130 acre nature reserve making you feel like you are in a complete bubble away from reality.
The log cabins are a range of sizes and each one has every detail covered to ensure you have the most relaxing break in the English Countryside.
I recently visited with my friends Sophie, Kara, Liv & Sam. We had an amazing girls weekend away staying in Kaisers Kabin and creating special memories by making the most of what Log House Holidays has to offer.
Once you have made your booking on their site, take note of the below points to ensure you make the most of your stay there!
For more images see – A Winter Break at Log House Holidays in the Cotswolds, Photo Diary.
Hot Tub Time
All cabins have a Finnish Hob Tub outside so whether its summer or winter, rain or shine, day or night these beauties will warm you up and unwind you to the fullest so make sure you add them on as an extra to your stay!
Get out on and in the Lake
There’s no point being so close to a beautiful, natural lake and not making full use of it!
On our first morning we all got into our private rowing boat, none of us had really rowed a boat before so I was quite scared, but with some common sense it was totally fine and really fun! Each cabin has its own private boat included in the booking.
As an extra you can also hire Kayaks and Paddleboards. If it had been Summer when we visited I would have been out on the Paddleboard in a flash and I’m sure we would have all been out for a swim!
Go for a Walk or Bike Road around the Lake
There is a circular footpath that goes all around the reserve, it’s about 2 miles and takes 30-40 minutes to walk around. We really enjoyed getting some fresh Country air and viewing the other cabins on our afternoon walk.
If you fancy heading out on a bike and seeing the area that way you can hire a bike and helmets too!
Hire a Private Chef
All of the cabins have fully equipped kitchens perfect for being self catered and preparing your own meals, however if your stay is a special occasion or maybe you want to treat yourself even more, why not hire a private chef!
Sam was lucky enough to be offered a private chef experience by La Belle Assiette which paired brilliantly with our Cotswolds stay so they sent Jamie from Holistic Chef who is based nearby in Cheltenham and he cooked us up the most fantastic 8 course, vegan, plant-based meal!
Our kitchen area in Kaiser Kabin was quite small but he worked around us with no trouble at all!
Make a fire & roast Marshmallows
When I say Log House Holidays have thought of everything, I mean everything!
Each cabin has its own fire pit outside and a fire box including wood, fire lighters, marshmallows & marshmallow tongs can be found outside of your cabin! Due to us visiting in Winter we didn’t start a fire in the fire pit outside but we did use our initiative to roast the marshmallows on the fire in wood burner inside the cabin instead!
Just picture watching the sun go down with a fire lit on your own private beach and garden! Perfect!
Have a BBQ
We do love a BBQ in the UK so if the weather is good enough on your visit why not light up your private BBQ and eat dinner on the veranda overlooking the lake!
There isn’t a big supermarket that close by but it is possible to get a food shop delivered to your cabin during your stay which is perfect if the sun decides to show itself last minute!
Bring your dog along!
If you have a dog they don’t need to miss out on all of the fun as Log House Holidays is dog friendly!

Take a course
The owners can arrange a landscape photography course and a baking course right from your log cabin! The courses cost extra but if you’re staying for a while this would really enhance your stay!
Stargaze & Bird watch
These are 2 things you may not have thought of but both are possible and again, right from your cabin door step! Each cabin has a pair of binoculars included so even if you are no expert its worth having a look to see what wildlife you can see.
When it comes to the star’s it’ll depend on how clear the sky is but seen as there isn’t much light pollution at all it’s likely you’ll see a fair few stars in the sky. We liked looking at them from the warmth of our hot tub one night!
Head out to explore more of the Cotswolds
It’ll be hard to drag yourself away from your cabin bubble but if you feel you want to, Log House Holidays are conveniently located close to many gorgeous, quintessentially English villages and towns like Bourton on the Water- one of the most famous villages in the Cotswolds and Tetbury- situated in the Cotswolds ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
Go to the Pub
Whilst in your cabin and on the reserve you’ll feel like reality is a million miles away but actually, there are a few villages very close by, along with some really nice looking pubs. We went for dinner at The Potting Shed Pub which was a 10 minute drive away. It was really cosy and the food was great so I would recommend heading there for a Sunday Lunch, an evening Dinner or just for a pint.
Do all of the above, do some of the above, do none of the above! As long as you feel completely relaxed you are making the most out of your stay at Log House Holidays, and trust me, it’s hard not to be relaxed here!
I hope this gives you some ideas of what you can do during your stay at Log House Holiday’s in the Cotswolds and gets you prepared and excited to visit!
