In the last few months I’ve been really interested and intrigued by the topic of manifesting, aka, creating what I want and need in my life.
I have long been trusting of the concept- Everything happens for a reason. I have also been aware for quite a long time that sometimes I have thought something and its happened, maybe not in the form I imagined but it still happened.
I’ve just always thought – this is life though isn’t it? Isn’t this how it happens?
I’ve also read quotes online that say something like ‘your thoughts affect your life’. These are quotes that I’ve had saved in my phone for years but until recently it hadn’t clicked just how true that is.
I’d related these positive and good thoughts to an overall good life but I had never thought about the fact and possibility that our thoughts can bring individual and particular things into our lives.
What initially sparked this was Rachel Brathen aka Yoga Girl (aka one of my favourite humans!) as she did a podcast on manifesting and asking for what you want (you can find it here, its episode 2!). In the podcasts she describes how she was living in Costa Rica, not making much money but having a good life. She never used to worry about money and life because she trusted that things would work out. When she was in a tricky situation she would meditate, manifest, trust and it would happen.
For example, one month she couldn’t quite pay her rent, and focused on the fact that she would work it out, something would happen. As it turns out her landlord said he was leaving the area for a week and wouldn’t be able to collect rent for another week, this gave her the time to earn that extra money!
We all say that we want a good life, but what does that really mean? What do we want from this good life? What do we need to get there?
I now believe that creating a good life and a life I want and need is down to the power of manifesting. I’ve definitely done it before, so so many times, but without realising. For example when I’ve been looking for a new job I’ve made sure that I try hard, I apply for lots of jobs, go for interviews etc but for the last few years after those steps I haven’t majorly worried about it because I know from experience that the right job will come along, I’ve been trying too hard for it not to!
I’ve also noticed the power of manifesting through this blog and the opportunities I have had in the last year. Another blog post will be out soon which is focused just on blogging but in the meantime you can listen to my podcast episode on What She Said where I talk to Lucy about how manifesting has helped me grow my blog, you can find it here, its Season 2, Episode 12!
For now, I am going to talk through the steps of manifesting that I have been made aware of and am applying in my life and give some examples of what I mean so that you can follow this too as I guess you are reading this because you are interested in how to create what you want in you life?
Really, what do you want? What do you want most in your life right now? What do you need to get you there?
Do you want an apartment to yourself? Do you want a different job that pays more and offers more flexibility? Do you want to go on holiday to a certain Country? Do you want to travel, if so, when do you want to go? Where do you want to travel to?
The first step is to work that out. Saying ‘I want a good life’ or ‘I want to travel a lot’ is not enough, mainly because this is hard to track and know when you have it. What is going to consist of that good life? What consists of travelling a lot?
If there’s one thing that has become really obvious to me it’s that, if we are not clear with what we want, we can’t be provided with it. Simple.
Once you’ve had a think about it in your head, whether that was for a few minutes or a few days. Write it down. Put it in a journal. If you’re super creative, create a visualisation board. Make yourself accountable and focused.
Maybe writing it down is putting it out there enough and making you accountable enough, but maybe you need to tell someone in real life. Maybe you need to put it in an Instagram caption or tweet. Maybe you need to update your LinkedIn if it’s a job you’re looking for. Maybe you need to tell your friends or your family of your plans.
Again, you cannot be provided with something unless you’re clear about what it is that you want and putting it out into the universe is the surest way to be clear.
This may not be what you want to hear. Thoughts alone are not enough, you need to show up everyday and work for it.
If you want a new job, start looking, start putting yourself out there. If you want to travel, start saving money, be committed to travel being the outcome of buying less stuff and eating out less.
I don’t think you need to go too crazy, if you were doing good at looking for an apartment or saving money to travel, that’s fine, just keep doing what you were doing, but now be conscious of it and what you’re doing it for.
Before you’ve even got it, imagine what it would be like to have it.
Imagine what it would be like to land in that country, pack a big backpack, move into that apartment, hand your notice in to your manager because you have a better job.
Being grateful raises our vibration. It makes us operate at a higher level and that higher level attracts things to us. If we’re not grateful for what we have, why do we think we’re going to be given more?
So feel what it would be like to have it before you have it, but also be grateful and feel what you already have.
Self worth is so important. Again its about vibration.
If you do not believe that you are worthy for the job that pays more and gives flexibility, chances are you won’t get it. If you don’t think that a person like you can travel the world, you probably won’t.
I listened to another podcast by Lacey who is a Manifestation Coach who said – The lower our self-worth is, the more tests we get. This is true isn’t it? If you keep being pushed back and rejected, its likely they are your tests, and if you felt more worthy maybe they would stop. Either that or your outlook will change. You can find that podcast here and its episode 66.
Trust, trust, trust. Trust that the universe has got your back. Work for it but don’t force it.
Look back at your life and the things that have come your way, hopefully this will help you trust the universe. It definitely makes me trust.
It’s important to remember when manifesting that the actual outcome may be different to what you thought it would be.
This is where the trust and not forcing it comes in. Trust that although it may be different to what you thought, this is the best way.
I guarantee that you’ll look back after its happened and realise that yes, that was the right way for it to happen after all.
‘Ooh what a coincidence’, how often do we say that? That term and that thought is so ingrained in us and in our society and honestly, its annoying me more and more.
As I said at the start, I’ve always had that knowing that things happen for a reason but thinking of certain things as coincidences was still part of my thought process, however I have stopped believing in coincidences now.
Nothing is a coincidence. It wasn’t a coincidence that you were messaged randomly on LinkedIn about a job you hadn’t yet seen. It isn’t a coincidence that a friend of a friend is moving out of their flat and needs someone to house sit for a few months and you’re the ideal person. It isn’t a coincidence that you’ve been waiting for the right time to travel and all of a sudden got made redundant from your job.
This is your manifesting coming to life, and I think it’s so easy to get coincidences mixed up with the outcome of manifesting!
Once you become aware of manifesting, once you’ve seen the outcome no matter how small or big, feel and recognise this power.
You have the power to change your life.
You have the power to create what you want in your life.
You have the power to create what you need to get you there.
Your thoughts really do affect your life.
I promise you will feel so much more powerful!
Put your plan out to the universe, show up every day, do the work, and it’ll manifest as its meant to be.
I really hope you have found this helpful or at least interesting.
