Barafundle Bay has been voted not only the best beach to visit in Pembrokeshire but as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so when I spent a few days on a Pembrokeshire Road Trip, obviously it had to go on my list of beaches to visit in Pembrokeshire and I want to tell you how to get to Barafundable Bay in Pembrokeshire too!

How To Get To Barafundle Bay

Barafundle Bay is a secluded beach and doesn’t have a car park or road leading to it which makes it hard to get to when you are researching ‘where is Barafundle Bay’ and ‘how to get to Barafundle Bay!’

Stackpole Quay Car Park

Therefore to get to Barafundle Bay you need to drive to Stackpole Quay! I used SA71 5LS as the Stackpole Quay postcode to find the Stackpole Quay car park.

Be sure to note that before arriving at the car park in Stackpole Quay for Barafundle Bay you pass by a building with a car park and need to follow the road right around the U bend until you reach the main car park (this way you won’t go back and forth 3 times like I did thinking I had missed it!).

Because I had already walked from Saundersfoot Beach to Tenby Beach along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Walk that morning (read how to walk from Saundersfoot Beach to Tenby Beach here!), it was pretty late in the day by the time I arrived and the beautiful blue sky that I had experienced for most of the day was disappearing with grey clouds and rain coming over.

I paid £2.00 to park my car and I started walking up the pathway because the car park at Stackpole Quay is not where Barafundle Beach is, you need to walk for a bit until you reach it!

Perhaps the extra effort involved is why the beach is so beautiful and named as the best beach in Pembrokeshire!

Stackpole Quay to Barafundle Bay Walk

Google Maps told the walk from Stackpole Quay to Barafundle Bay is just 0.5 miles each way and I found it to be a very easy walk and only took 10 minutes or so, therefore if you have children they will be ok doing the walk too!

It’s a short walk up a pathway and then you enter a field and walk pretty much walk over one of the cliffs that separate the beaches. Even in the pouring rain, it looked amazing!

Before I knew it I could see an archway, a national trust sign and the famous Barafundle Bay in the background.

Due to the cloud, the beach wasn’t presented in the best of ways when I got there but I could understand the buzz of it being so beautiful as it really is secluded. The water was a lovely colour and I can imagine on a sunny day its amazing.

Barafundle Bay Things To Do

Things to do in Barafundle Bay include surfing and kayaking and a lot of people don their wetsuits to get into this amazing water.  I believe they also offer regular lessons.

Barafundle Bay is a perfect beach in Pembrokeshire to visit if you want a few hours on the beach to chill and play, especially if you have children, but it’s also good to visit if you just park in Stackpole Quay and walk to the beach to see the amazing view before heading back again to carry on seeing more of Pembrokeshire’s beaches!

Barafundle Bay Walk

This day I managed to see 5 beaches in Pembrokeshire – Saundersfoot Beach, Tenby Beach, Freshwater East and Freshwater West! Read this post to see how I saw all 5 beaches in Pembrokeshire as I recommend it to you too for things to do in Pembrokeshire!
