Tenby is the hub of Pembrokeshire in Wales and Pembrokeshire is an amazing place to spend your UK Staycation this year, and it will be even better if you stay in one of these campsites near Tenby so you can fully experience the lushness of the Welsh Countryside!

Why camping near Tenby a good idea? Because Tenby and the surrounding areas of Pembrokeshire have something to offer everyone, it’s a great family fun and child-friendly holiday destination thanks to the many safe beaches and attractions for children.

Best Time to Go Camping in Tenby

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. Camping and the Welsh weather do not always mix. I experienced this myself last year when camping near Tenby Wales.

Because it is likely to rain in Wales even during the summer and summer holidays, however, there is also a good chance that you will visit Wales to go camping and the weather will be glorious with bright sunny and warm days! In fact, maybe it will be too hot!

1. Meadow Farm Campsite Tenby

Let’s start with the only campsite in Tenby which is Meadow Farm and the closest Tenby campsite near a beach.

The town of Tenby is surrounded by fields with fields on top of the cliff overlooking the sea below and this is where you’ll find this top campsite in Tenby!

Meadow Farm Tenby is situated at the top of the Tenby North cliff, with spectacular panoramic views overlooking the historic town of Tenby below and trust me, this view is incredible with the beach and the colourful houses in the distance.

I love this location for it’s close location to Saundersfoot beach as well as Tenby, I’ve done the walk from Tenby to Saundersfoot and back before and its such a lovely walk along the Wales Coastal Path.

2. Becks Bay Camping Tenby

Becks Bay Tenby is another one of the top campsites near Tenby because of it’s close location to Tenby. It’s located in the middle of rolling fields close to the charming town of Penally which is just South of Tenby.

I know Tenby campsites near a beach is a popular request and a real positive to this campsite is how close it is to the sea. You’ll be sure to wake up to an incredible ocean view!

Becks Bay Campsite is on a working farm which means its a unique place for children and they are bound to enjoy seeing the animals.

Another thing I love about Becks Bay us that they have a farm shop and cafe on site with a wide range of local produce for sale and the cafe offers breakfast, lunch and tea. This means you don’t need to worry too much about your camping cooking skills!

If you want a holiday park and a resort camping holiday near Tenby, Kiln Park is for you!

It’s part of the well-known Haven Holiday brand and it offers a fun and lively atmosphere with full onsite facilities including a bars and restaurants onsite, swimming pools, mini golf, tennis courts, amusement arcade and a sports field.

Camping in a holiday park like this is perfect if you also want comforts like heated bathrooms, a laundrette and baby changing facilities.

Although Kiln Park near Tenby is a big touring caravan site and campsite, it has a dedicated area for tents so you will get the camping feel.

4. Folly Farm Campsite

Folly Farm is one of the top attractions in Pembrokeshire for children because it has a zoo, funfair and huge playground on site. So you’re essentially camping at a zoo!

It also has a small onsite campsite which is very fun! This is one of the perfect campsites near Tenby and Saundersfoot and therefore in a brilliant location and it means you won’t have to drive too far to the beach with the kids at all because Tenby is just a 10-minute drive away and all the things to do in Saundersfoot Beach are just 10 minutes too!

Although small, it has all the facilities you need including a shared facilities building with plenty of hot water in a heated shower and toilet block.

Best of all, you can pay once for access into Folly Farm and visit as much as you like during your stay which will definitely keep the children entertained!

5. Trevayne Farm Campsite

Trevayne Farm offers 2 beautiful camping fields on it’s farm. This is one of the campsites near Tenby and Saundersfoot as it’s in the middle of both seaside towns and the closest beach is Monkstone Beach, which Trevayne Farm say is one of the best beaches in the country and the camping fields sit above.

I love this campsite because it’s nothing fancy but offers all that you need and it’s in a great location in Pembrokeshire.

It’s family-run and located next to the 100-acre farm. The farm has cattle, sheep, pigs and more and as a simple and sustainable approach to farming which you can see! They offer hot showers, a farm shop with produce from the farm and local produce to buy and laundry facilities.

6. Masterland Farm Camping Park

Masterland Farm Campsite is aimed at couples and small families to ensure everyone has a relaxed camping experience in Pembrokeshire! All of your basic facilities are covered at this small, peaceful, family run site.

This campsite near Tenby used to be a working farm but started being transformed into a campsite in the 1970’s, it started off small and they have grown the site over the years to what it is now with the help of many family members.

Now, as well as having a caravan and woodland camping pod section, there is also a reinstated animal farm so there are chances to see a donkey, horses, sheep, ducks and more, and a new addition to the farm and campsite is a bee-hive and they are hoping to have their own honey by summer 2021!

This is one of the campsites that is closer to Saundersfoot than Tenby but Tenby is close to Saundersfoot so you can get there very easily by car. It’s also inland away from the beach but you will benefit by waking up to green rolling hills!

7. Oasis Camping Tenby

Oasis campsite near Tenby and Penally is a great option if you are looking for a budget holiday and good value campsite near Tenby without losing out on great all-round facilities.

Oasis Tenby sits above the main coast road and gives a sea view to Tenby South beach and the national park! Now, that’s a good view to see first thing in the morning!

This high value campsite only opened in 2018 and they have been making it better each year by adding more electricity points, extending the wifi coverage and adding additional toilet blocks.

The reason Oasis campsite near Tenby is so good value is that they have a bespoke booking system which gives the fairest price and not just a fixed fee, meaning if you book in advance and for longer, the price is better for you!

Although their facilities are basic, you won’t be roughing it! There’s no need to think about breakfast unless you want to as they have a breakfast room where they can make a brilliant breakfast for you, and there is a pub on site with happy hour prices!

8. Covert Farm Camping

If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful place to camp near Tenby that doesn’t resemble a holiday park at all then Covert Farm camping in Tenby is for you!

The owners are passiomate about providing you with a peaceful getaway and have created a campsite in the middle of the wildlife.

There will also be no caravan in sight here as there are only camping picthes and a few glamping pitches onsite along with toilet and shower facilities with hot water!

Tenby and Saundersfoot are both just a 15 minute drive away and there are lots of local beaches near by to visit where you can continue to enjoy this peaceful corner of Wales.

9. YHA Manorbier Campsite

YHA is a well known hostel chain with many properties in England and Wales, I love the YHA hostels, how welcoming they are and how amazing their locations are and YHA Manorbier is no exception.

Whilst YHA Manorbier is a hostel, it also has camping facilities near Tenby as well as glamping pods and very cool space-ship type caravans. Staying here is perfect if you want some luxuries like a cafe, common areas and good showering facilities but you also want to be outside in nature.

Maybe you have some people in your camping group that would prefer to stay inside or in a glamping pod and others who want to be camping, here you find something to suit everyone!

Manorbier is a popular place to stay that is close to Tenby but not right in Tenby. Manorbier beach is sandy dune beach and the village is a classic Welsh seaside village! It’s perfect if you want a quiet and relaxed holiday!

10. Whitewell Holiday Park

Camping at Whitewell Holiday Park is another great place for family camping near Tenby. This campsite gives you all the facilities of a holiday resort including a clubhouse with a bar, and a games arcade with fun games like a pool table, air hockey table, table football, a dance machine!

It is a family-run campsite with a community spirit to it so you’re bound to make some friends and meet other families there too!

Whitewell was once a working farm but it became a campsite in Pembrokeshire in the 1960s and it holds a alot of history like a Grade II 18th Century Farmers Cottage and 14th Century Grade I listed Whitewell Ruins.

Lydstep Beach is the nearest beach which is a few beaches South of Tenby, this means you have a beautiful, and fairly quiet beach close by but you can get into Tenby town and to Tenby’s beaches in no time at all!
