Why do you want to be in Tenby town you may wonder?? Well, Tenby is by far the most well known holiday town in Pembrokeshire with its colourful buildings, sand beaches, and all the amenities you need for a seaside holiday in Wales!
Self Catering has always been a good idea but these days, self-catering in Tenby, and everywhere else, is definitely the way to go!

Best Time to Visit Tenby
If you’re still in the planning stages of your Tenby and Wales holiday, you may be wondering what the best time to visit Tenby is?
The annoying answer is that it depends on what you are looking for. Tenby in Summer with sunny and warm weather is absolutely glorious and it makes a staycation in Wales feel like you’re abroad!
The downside to visiting Tenby in Summer is that everyone else has the same idea and it, therefore, gets very busy and prices go up. Also, the weather in Wales is temperamental and it’s not always hot and sunny in Summer!
I personally recommend the shoulder seasons of late Spring and early Autumn as the best time to go to Tenby if you are flexible, and also to visit outside of school holidays if you can!

How to Get to Tenby
Driving to Tenby is definitely my recommended best way of getting to Tenby, this is because although there are so many things to do in Tenby there are also so many places near Tenby to visit which are amazing too and you do need a car to get around Pembrokeshire and see the best of the area!
However, Tenby does have a train station in the town centre and there are trains from Cardiff to Tenby. Most of the Tenby Cottages I recommend below are close to the train station so look into trains to Tenby if you don’t want to drive

1. Shell Cottage Tenby With 2 Bedrooms
- Sleeps: 4
- Bedrooms: 2 – twin & double
- Location: In Tenby town, close to Tenby North Beach
This is a Tenby Cottage perfect for a family of 4 or a group of friends with it’s good sized 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin and comfortable living space downstairs.
Shell Cottage in Tenby is definitely in the centre of town but it is a few streets back from the busy tourist streets. It’s 650 yards from North Tenby Beach which is one of the beautiful beaches in Tenby, and it’s also close to Tenby train station for easy access if you don’t have a car, and it is also close to a big car park with reasonable car parking prices as there is no car parking on site.
When looking for self catering in Tenby, I think outdoor space is a must and this holiday cottage in Tenby does provide a terrace with outdoor furniture.

2. Colourful Tenby Cottage To Sleep 8 People
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 3 – double room, twin room and triple room
- Location: Tenby Town near North & South Beach
Tenby is all about the colourful, pastel painted houses and you can stay in one of these colourful houses too!
If you are a big family or group then this cottage in Tenby is perfect for you because it sleeps 6 adults maximum with up to 2 more children thanks to its extra-large double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a triple room which can hold 4 people as it has 2 singles as bunk beds and a double bed!
Another huge benefit to staying in this Tenby holiday home is that it has onsite parking which is quite rare in Tenby!
This is a beautifully decorated, homely house with lots of neutral colours and in a great location just 5 minutes from Tenby South Beach and 10 minutes from Tenby North Beach by walking.
It has an outside gravel and patio garden which is a must if you’re on holiday in Tenby as Tenby gets a surprising amount of sunshine!

3. Woodbine Cottage With 4 Bedrooms & Sea View

Sleeping up to 8 adults or a mixture of adults and children, Woodbine Cottage in Tenby is a great option for your self-catering Tenby holiday and you won’t be disappointed by its pink exterior and sea view from the upstairs windows!
The Cottage has lots of light and lots of space as well as being decorated in a lovely, unique and tasteful way.
Location wise, this Tenby cottage puts you in the middle of Tenby where you are just minutes walk from the beaches and all of the shops. When it comes to parking, it does benefit from private, free parking which is rare in Tenby!
There is outside space and outside seating along with a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of relaxing spaces downstairs.

This is another colourful and spacious cottage in Tenby perfect for a family or group of friends.
5 Park Place in Tenby offers a pastel blue, terrace house and cottage in a great location just 450 yards from Tenby North Beach.
It may look like a typical holiday cottage from the outside but the inside has been decorated impeccably in a clean, stylish way with lots of splashes of colour and a lovely outdoor area!
It is managed by Sykes Holiday Cottages who have more than 25 years experience in holiday cottage lettings so you know that everything inside is going to be perfect and professional for your stay in Tenby.

- Location: Close to Tenby Town and beach
You won’t be able to forget where you are staying in Tenby with this blue Tenby cottage located in the centre of Tenby close to Tenby North Beach.
Sandy Retreat offers 3 comfy bedrooms. It is a spacious and clean cottage in Tenby with everything you need for self catering!
Outside is a tidy and open garden area. There is no car parking onsite but there is a large car park nearby with reasonable parking prices.

Shipwrights Cottage is an apartment within a cottage but I am including it within this list of Tenby Cottages because it is simply gorgeous!
All of the rooms are decorated with a seaside and nautical theme so it really is a unique place to stay in Tenby and definitely good if you are staying here for a special occasion or want an extremely beautiful home in Tenby!
With 4 bedrooms it can accommodation up to 8 people!
The cottage is well located in Tenby town centre but a few streets away from the really busy tourist streets, it is just 300 yards from Tenby North Beach and you can see the sea at the end of the street!

This is one of the most central cottages in Tenby you’ll get because it’s in the centre of Tenby town and only 200 yards away from North Tenby Beach with a view of Tenby harbour just outside the front door of this colourful Tenby house!
It’s another cottage which can fit up to 8 people over 3 bedrooms and additional sofa beds and the bedrooms have been decorated in a simple and clean way.
Downstairs there is a small patio garden but with the beach and harbour so close you won’t need much else!
8. The Boathouse Tenby on Edge of Town
- Sleeps: 4
- Bedrooms: 2
- Location: Edge of Tenby Town
For something a bit different, here is The Boathouse Home in Tenby. It’s not a typical cottage but it is a unique stand-alone building wooden building with a lot of outside garden space! Perfect for children that need to run around!
Although there are so many places in stay in Tenby town as you can see from this list, staying a little out of the town centre is a good idea too, especially in the summer when the town centre gets very busy.
The Boathouse is on the edge of town and 750 years from North Tenby Beach and this is why it also benefits from the big garden!
Going back to unique features, the kitchen is downstairs in the boathouse and there is a comfortable living area and dining area upstairs along with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which has a lovely big bath!

9. Vintage Holiday Home Tenby

Staying outside of Tenby town will give you a bit more space and more garden space too, and this is what Little Mead offers you.
It’s a basic but homely Welsh house with everything you need for a comfortable self catering in Tenby stay.
The huge benefit to staying here is the garden and it’s field view so you can have some privacy and also fully relax in the Countryside, yet be so close to all the fun in Tenby and the surrounding areas in just a short drive!
